The Roots

In 1972, my maternal grandmother–after raising four kids on her own–took off solo, caravanning with a trailer from central London to the hills of Cap D’antibes, France. She lived there for the next 28 years until her death.

5,000 miles across the earth, my paternal grandmother was in Orange County, CA-not far from where she was born-wearing rhinestone boots, chain-smoking and taking trips to Reno to gamble with her girlfriends.

I like to think that I fall somewhere in the middle of them–an appreciation for the European way of life, but with a healthy dose of American rock n’ roll spirit.

When I came across the blue bird, it felt like an opportunity for an adventure I’d been preparing my whole life for. I’m a designer, brand-builder and lover of unique and thought-provoking things. Some of my favorite documentaries are Between the Folds and Coast Modern. The theory of origami and the history of midcentury architecture are two things that make my heart sing. That and music–my first love and the thing that keeps me in tune with and excited about the world.

I hope Le Bus brings you a little joy - of finding something you might not have found elsewhere, something that speaks to you, or simply a place to grab a great pair of jeans, new record and your favorite candle.
